The Pilanesberg Safari is an exceptional 3-day getaway whether you’re a tourist or a local looking for a piece of wildlife.

The Pilesberg National Park & Game Reserve is established in the crater of a 1.2 billion-year old ancient volcano. Sceneries and rocks constituting the soul of the park are the reminders of this fascinating past. This rich area attracts an awesome diversity of animals, flora and fauna that are not often found living together.

For any lovers of wildlife, it’s worth a trip! In no less than 4 Game Drives led by an experienced and friendly guide, you’ll be able to see the Big 5 among many other species. It’s the ability to take great photos of all that the park has to offer, like the sunrise on the bush or the sunset behind the hills on the horizon.

Pilanesberg National Park & Game Reserve

The Pilanesberg National Park is a 57,000ha area situated in the North West Province of South Africa, in transition between the wet Lowveld vegetation and the dryness of the Kalahari. It allows 7,000 animals from many different species of mammals or birds to live there. Since 1979, the Operation Genesis gives the opportunity to introduce rare and endangered species like wild dog, brown hyena or white and black rhino into the reserve. Visiting the park, you will find other testimonies of their commitment in favour of the animal protection and anti-poaching.
Moreover, the park counts eight hides where you can peacefully enjoy the view of the area and take amazing pictures if you are an avid photographer.
During the evening, you can rest in quiet, spacious and comfortable accommodations at the Black Rhino Lodge, nestled within the crater. Relax and enjoy the South African hospitality at its finest.

4x4 Game Drive

The Game Drives happen at early morning or during the evening. They are the moments when you have the best opportunities to capture the wildlife, especially predators like leopards trying to hunt at sunrise or sunset. Don’t forget to bring warm clothes, because early mornings can be very cold. The small size of the reserve and the many animals overflowing also increase your chances to see the famous African Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and elephant).
During the winter, from April to September, which is the dry season, your experienced guide will not forget to bring you around some of the many water-holes in the park. Indeed, this is where the animals come, mixed together, to slake their thirst. However, during the summer, it is also very pleasing to find two or three elephants enjoying a mud-bath.
While you are seeing the animals, take a look at the landscape, especially during the night when the starry sky becomes the ceiling of the park. It is breathtaking!
